Tinting isn't always about the "look"

There’s no doubt that having tinted windows on your vehicle looks appealing. Most people are drawn to cars with tints because they tend to look more sleek and classy. Although, are there more benefits than appearance? Premier Tint Pros truly believes that adding window tint to your vehicle can provide many benefits for you and your family that are more than appearance.
Here are 5 benefits of tinting your vehicle

UV Protection

Picture
Have you ever gotten a driver’s tan? As in, a tan that noticeably darker on your left side of your upper-body from driving in your car. Having a driver’s tan is common for those who have long commutes to/from work, or drive for work. Not only can you get this tan while the window is down, but you can get the tan while the window is up.

Ultraviolet (UV) rays aren’t blocked by glass, but it is blocked by window tint. Although you typically won’t get sun burned while driving, there is still exposure to UV rays. This exposure can increase chances of sun damaged skin and skin cancer. The Skin Cancer Foundation states that nearly 53% of all U.S. skin cancer cases occur on the left side of the body. The Skin Cancer Foundation believes this can be attributed to the UV rays that are received while driving.

Interior Protection

Picture
Leather cracks, and your car isn’t immune to that. Over time, leather seats and upholstery can crack or even fade if you do not take proper precautions. Just as window tinting protects people from UV rays, it also protects the interior of the car. Blocking the UV light from effecting your interior will directly help the longevity of your upholstery from cracking and fading.

Reduce Heat & Glare

Picture
Window tinting acts similar to a shade for your house windows. When the shade exposed (tint on) it reduces the heat that is let into your house from sunlight. On the contrary, when you do not have tinted windows, your car is exposed to absorb heat from the sun. Adding film window tint to your car you can decrease the interior temperature even before you get in it during the hot, summer months.

In the summer months, the sun does not only create a heat control issue, but also a glare issue. The sun’s rays can be very distracting while driving and can cause accidents. The National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation survey created by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states that 16% of environment-related crashes are related to glares from the sun. That is roughly 8,700 crashes per year. Avoiding a glare on your windshield or front windows will allow you to focus more on the road and be more aware of your surroudnings.

How much heat control and glare control your window tint is providing depends on the grade of tint you receive. Higher end, Ceramic, tints will provide the greatest amount of heat control and glare reduction.

Safety and security

Picture
One of the best reasons for tinting your vehicle’s windows is for safety and security. Leaving your belongings in your vehicle unattended make most people nervous depending on the value of the belonging left. Often times it is seen that thieves target vehicles that they can see into so there are no surprises when they break in. Therefore, having darker windows through window tints, can help deter theft because people cannot see into your car as easily.

Not only can the window tint help deter theft, but the window tint can help protect you physically. Window tint is a piece of film that is one sheet per window. Since this tint is sealed to your tint in one sheet, it prevents shattering of glass during accidents. If an object hits your window or you are in a collision, the tint should hold up in one piece, as the glass on the other side of the tint may have cracked.

Privacy for passengers

Picture
Having window tints is similar to a two-way mirror. The person on the inside of the car can see out, but the person outside the car cannot see in. How much the person can see in to your car depends on the darkness of your tint you choose. If you choose a lighter tint at 20%, then it will be harder to see in, opposed to a 35% tint. Having window tints can give a peace of mind to your passengers as it gives them privacy from the outside.

Tinting is the best kind of protection you can provide to your windows and yes of course there are opinions that tinting is mostly carried out by people so as to get a perfect look for their car but I personally opine that it is more important to provide protection to your windows. TintCollege,an institute provides for training for tinting industry and also provides experienced professionals for it.

I found it interesting when you said that ultraviolet (UV) rays aren’t blocked by glass, but it is blocked by window tint. My brother just bought a car to commute to work and he has to drive about an hour to get to his job. It would be nice to let him know about window tinting and its benefits such as preventing from sun-damaged skin or skin cancer.

I love that you said that window tinting is similar to a shade for your house window. My work parking lot is in the sun, so my car sits in the heat all day. It gets very hot in my car, almost unbearably so. Maybe I should get my windows tinted to prevent that.

It never occurred to me that you can control the amount of heat that is absorbed through the windows of your house by tinting the windows. There's a section of large windows in my house where the sun shines directly into during the evening. I'll have to see getting those windows tinted would help reduce the temperature in that room.

I've achieved getting a tan when I was driving last week. I think I'll go to an auto service to tint my windows so that the UV rays won't reach my skin. As you've mentioned, I do long commutes to work, so it's really important for me to get protection.

My wife and I purchased a new car last week and have noticed that the windows aren't tinted. It's interesting that 53% of skin cancer cases occur on the left side of the body and that it may be attributed to UV rays going through windows. We may consider getting our windows tinted by a pro near us.

It's good to know that having your windows tinted in your car helps keep the interior protected from cracking and fading. My wife surprised me on my birthday this year with a second car so we can each drive to work, and I've been looking forward to customizing it. Tinting my windows sounds like a great way to both make it last longer and to just be more pleasant to drive in.

My wife has been thinking about getting some tinted windows for her Hyundai Elantra so that it will be nicer and the car will be cooler in the summer. She would really like to get some help from a professional to do it. I'll be sure to tell her about how she can also reduce the glare on her windows with a ceramic tint.
